WHAT IS UW WOMEN'S CLUB SOCCER?

UW Women's Club Soccer is a UW RSO (Registered Student Organization) that consists of competitive soccer team and a practice squad. Women's Club Soccer is a great way for College students to continue pursuing their soccer interests after High School to play in a competitive, yet fun atmosphere.

HOW DO I JOIN?

During the first week of fall quarter, tryouts are held at the IMA (Intramural Activities Building) turf fields. Those who are selected for the competitive travel team or practice squad will be able to attend practices/games. Usually in the summer, there are open practices for club members as well as those who are interested in joining. HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON THE TEAM ROSTER?

There is both a competitive playing team and a practice squad. Although the numbers can vary, usually the playing team roster has about 20-25 players and the practice squad has about 10-15 players.

WHAT LEVEL OF PLAY CAN I EXPECT?

The level of play is between that of the UW D1 soccer team and Intramurals. Most girls on the team previously played club soccer on A/B team level teams.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRACTICE?

Practices usually occur twice a week in the evenings at the IMA turf fields. They are usually about 2 hours long.

DO YOU PLAY GAMES/IN TOURNAMENTS?

Yes. The competitive playing team usually plays in a fall league against club teams at other schools such as Washington State University, Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University, and Central Washington University. During winter quarter, the team usually participates in a tournament down in Oregon. During the Spring quarter, the team usually attends Nationals in California.

WHO COACHES THE TEAM?

The coaches of the team are other students or alumni with extensive soccer experience. However at the same time, the team is very much self run.

DOES IT COST MONEY TO JOIN?

There are fees to for those who join the playing team or the practice squad. These fees pay for equipment and other expenses that keep the club up and running.
